About VIAJUR Winery – A Stroll Through Slovakian Winemaking Heritage
Welcome to VIAJUR Winery, where ancient winemaking traditions harmonise with a modern renaissance, and where each bottle tells a story of dedication to quality, tradition, and sustainability.
Our winemaker
Today, VIAJUR, under the guidance of winemaker Tomáš Dilong, brings a fresh perspective, producing 150,000 bottles of white, rosé, red, sparkling and dessert wines each year. The commitment to quality, underscored by sustainable practices and a chemical and preservative-free approach, narrates a tale of prosperity and dedication to Slovakian winemaking.
Preserving Heritage, Crafting Excellence
Uncover the rich tapestry of Slovakian winemaking at VIAJUR. We play a pivotal role in preserving the heritage of this ancient craft, meticulously crafting wines that not only reflect our commitment to quality but also tell the story of our enduring connection to the land.
Farná Estate – A Sustainable Oasis
VIAJUR’s Farná estate, is a 40-hectare haven that underwent a rebirth with the planting of 5 hectares of new vines in 2017. Here, the metamorphosis of the vineyards intertwines with the recultivation of less suitable lands into thriving fruit orchards, creating a sustainable oasis that transcends the ordinary.
Diverse Terroir, Unique Offerings
Explore the estate’s terroir, ideal for aromatic white grape varieties and the regional specialty, Blaufränkisch. From Welschriesling and Sauvignon Blanc thriving in limestone-rich soils to Burgundy varieties, Gewürztraminer, and the unique Slovak variety Dunaj, our offerings are a testament to the diversity of our terroir. Don’t miss the innovative touch of our Dunaj rosé, a collaboration with Elizabeth Gabay MW, packaged in a can for a modern twist.
Limited Collection, Rich in History
VIAJUR takes pride in producing a limited collection of wines, each bottle reflecting a journey through history. Our dedication to quality, tradition, and sensitive practices ensures that every sip is an experience, a connection to the roots of Slovakian winemaking.
Beyond Wine: A Commitment to Sustainability
VIAJUR is not merely a winery; it is a commitment to nurturing the land and community. Sustainability is at the heart of our ethos, employing chemical-free methods in the vineyards and revitalizing neglected lands. At Farná estate, we cultivate diverse crops, maintain beehives, and adopt eco-friendly practices. From wine vinegar to grape juice and cosmetics, our by-products minimize waste and maximize resources. This dedication to responsible practices ensures not only delicious wines but also a thriving environment for future generations.

Embark on a journey through VIAJUR Winery, where every bottle holds a piece of history, and every sip is a celebration of Slovakian winemaking heritage. Experience the artistry of our craft, the beauty of Farná estate, and the taste of wines that capture the essence of sustainability and tradition.
Pálffy Manor
In the heart of Slovakia, near Bratislava, nestled among the rolling hills and vineyards of the picturesque region of Svätý Jur, stands the historic manor house named after Katarína Pálffy. Notable historical reconstructions and the influence of figures like Katarína Pálffy in the 16th century have intertwined the manor’s story with the broader context of the Habsburg era. The Pálffy Manor was a testament to the wealth and power that Katarína once held, a woman who had left an indelible mark on the history of the region.
Katarína Pálffy, born into privilege and influence, was known for her shrewd business acumen and her passion for wine production. In the 18th century, she had transformed the family’s modest vineyards into a thriving enterprise, making Svaty Jur synonymous with fine wines that were coveted far beyond the borders of Slovakia. As the years passed, the Pálffy Manor became a symbol of prosperity and refinement. The grand halls echoed with tales of Katarína’s tenacity and the elegance that defined her reign.
The estate’s vineyards flourished under her guidance, producing some of the most exquisite wines in the region. Centuries later, the legacy of Katarína Pálffy lived on, and the manor continued to stand as a testament to her enduring influence. The Pálffy Manor had been beautifully preserved, and its walls whisper stories of the past to those who wandered through its majestic rooms. The Manor today, standing as a sentinel to 700 years of viticultural tradition, is now home to our VIAJUR winery.
Our wines
Blanc de Blancs
This sparkling wine is grown using the traditional champagne method from the burgundy varieties Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. These varieties do extremely well in our vineyards. The vintage sparkling wine Blanc de Blancs shines with a beautiful sparkling colour and the aroma of biscuit and citrus. The taste is fresh and balanced with beautiful and persistent pearliness.
Welsh Riesling
This wine matured for 12 months on lees in oak and acacia barrels. The wine has an attractive golden colour. The fragrance is dominated by citrus with a delicate admixture of apple. The taste is full-bodied, structured and delicious.
Frankova Modrá
The wine is dominated by beautifully concentrated acids. In the production of this wine, 225 litre barrique barrels and 500 litre oak barrels were used to emphasise the taste, in which the wine matured for 12 months. Subsequently, this wine went to a large barrel for the next 10 months, where it gained in beauty. The fragrance is dominated by May cherry. The taste is a wonderful interplay of acids and alcohol.
Dunaj
Alluring ink – purple colour. There are distinctive notes of plum jam and chocolate in the fragrance. The taste is full-bodied, fruity and persistent with delicate powdery tannins.
Elizabeth’s Rose
Rosé from the unique Slovak variety Dunaj was created in cooperation with the world-famous rose wine specialist Elizabeth Gabay, Master of Wine. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and matured in acacia barrels using the traditional “sur-lie” method.
